We are a leading company in the field of solar energy applied to mobility, with an ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability. Currently, we are looking for an intern to join our R&D team, focused on the development of new topologies for the electrical connection of PV panel strings for automotive applications, (refrigerated trucks, etc..) where special attention is required to the mamagement of partial shading (see cross-tied topology) and the reduction of the total length of the cables used.

Responsibilities

Literature study: conduct a thorough review of scientific and technical literature related to electrical connection types of photovoltaic panels, with a specific focus on automotive applications.
Modeling and simulation: use modeling tools to develop predictive models of proposed new topologies, evaluating their effectiveness under partial shading conditions and analyzing overall performance.
Design: contribute to the design process of new connection topologies, taking into account the specific requirements of automotive applications, such as refrigerated trucks.
Prototyping: collaborate with the engineering team to create prototypes based on the new electrical connection topologies.
Testing and evaluation: conduct experimental tests to evaluate the effectiveness of the new topologies, collecting data and analyzing the results to provide feedback to the development team.

Requirements

• Master student in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or related discipline.
• Basic knowledge of photovoltaic technologies and automotive applications.
• Modeling and simulation skills with dedicated software.
• Interest in research and development of innovative solutions.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Literature study: conduct a comprehensive review of scientific and technical literature on emerging PV technologies, with an emphasis on solutions such as Zebra or tandem c-Si/perovskite.
Design: contribute to the design process of new electrical connection technologies, with a focus on micro-crack management for semi-flexible panels.
Prototyping: collaborate with the engineering team to develop prototypes based on the newly designed solutions, using state-of-the-art materials and techniques.
Testing and evaluation: conduct experimental tests to evaluate the effectiveness of new electrical connection technologies, collecting data and analyzing results to optimize performance.

Responsibilities

Bill of material design: contribute to the design and definition of the photovoltaic panel bill of material, considering rigidity, lightweight, ease of installation, and resistance to impacts, particularly from hail.
Prototyping: work with the engineering team to develop prototypes based on the proposed design, using advanced materials and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies.
Testing and evaluation: conduct experimental tests to evaluate the performance of prototypes under simulated conditions of impact from hail and other mechanical stresses, collecting data and analyzing the results.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Materials research: conducting studies to select the most suitable materials for the polymeric front-sheet, considering requirements of flexibility, light weight and environmental resistance for automotive and marine applications.
Design and prototyping: participating in the design process of the double curvature photovoltaic panel, including the polymeric front-sheet. Contribute to prototyping using advanced materials and innovative manufacturing technologies.
Testing and evaluation: conduct experimental tests to evaluate the strength, efficiency and performance of the prototype under representative conditions of use in both automotive and marine environments.
Continuous optimization: work with the engineering team to optimize materials and processes based on test results to maximize the overall performance of the photovoltaic panel.
