Advanced cell architecture: Maxeon IBC
The SP Series integrates Maxeon monocrystalline cells using Interdigitated Back Contact (IBC) technology. This architecture relocates all electrical circuitry to the rear of the cell, maximising performance and enabling a high power-density flexible solar panel.
Zero frontal shading
The absence of front-side grid lines eliminates photon obstruction, maximising the active surface area available for light absorption.
Interpenetrating comb contacts
Rear-side electrical contacts are arranged in a thick, interpenetrating pattern that maintains electrical continuity even in the presence of micro-fractures.
Solid copper foundation
Each cell is built on a solid copper backing, providing superior mechanical strength and high resistance to corrosion, particularly in salt-rich environments.
Spectral response
The cells offer enhanced sensitivity to blue and infrared wavelengths, resulting in higher energy yield under overcast or low-light conditions.

Shading mitigation
Integrated bypass diodes minimise power loss caused by localised shading. Together with the intrinsic characteristics of Maxeon IBC cells, they make shading far less important.

The low reverse-bias breakdown voltage of Maxeon IBC cells, combined with strategically integrated bypass diodes, provides redundant protection against cell overheating and the risk of hot-spot damage.
