Il Mare a Vela: construction of a 170Wp PV system with SunPower cells

Realization of a photovoltaic system on a sailing boat of 45 feet. 

Following the breaking of tempered glass, has been proposed the creation of a 170Wp photovoltaic system made with CUSTOM Sunpower cells. 

The system was realized integrating the SOLBIANFLEX panels on a polycarbonate structure provided by the shipyard. The photovoltaic panels have been installed without the junction box to ensure a perfect integration and avoid the presence of wiring on the new cover.

Through the use of soldering ribbons, the wiring of the photovoltaic panels has been isolated and placed in the back of the polycarbonate sheet.

Then, the system was installed on the deck replacing the tempered glass.

The final result is a custom monolithic photovoltaic panel surrounding the hatch on a sailing boat:
