Mini Transat 2013: the wait continues

2013/11/05

We are still following the development of the Mini Transat with the two Italian sailors sponsord by Solbian: Federico Cuciuc and Giancarlo Pedote.

The race that was supposed to begin on October 13th from Douarnenez in France has been delayed due to the bad weather that forced the organization to postpone the start. After several days of careful considerations finally the race started on October 29th at 9.19 in the morning. The favorable window was short-lived however, forcing the organizers to introduce a stop in the north-west of Spain, in Sada, in order to ensure the safety of boats and sailors. Weather conditions got worse then, hence the decision to change the original plan and let all participants reach the port of Gijon. The two sailors Giancarlo Pedote and Federico Cuciuc are facing the unexpected difficulties of this race, each in his own way, the first one in the Proto class aboard the Prysmian ITA 747, the second one racing with Your Sail ITA 556 in the Series class. As for Giancarlo Pedote, his performance was excellent and allowed him to stay ahead and be the first to arrive in Sada. Federico Cuciuc instead, not having received the last radio communication, reached a different port, which has consequently forced him to arrange a transfer to Sada where the other participants are at the moment. The uncertainties in this edition of the Mini Transat are not lacking, but we are looking forward to the next developments, hoping for a short term resolution.
